VSPMO-AVISMA sees no problem in the American antidumping duty order on magnesium09.11.2011 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION. The increase of up to 22.38% in the dumping margin for magnesium supplied to the American market will result in only very insignificant losses for VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, JSC. The US Department of Commerce introduced this antidumping duty order for the Russian titanium giant in October of 2011. Mikhail Voevodin, VSMPO-AVISMA's general director, claimed that magnesium production is merely a side product obtained during the production of titanium sponge, and is not a strategic area of focus for the company. As a result, VSMPO-AVISMA will lose less than $1 million. The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that there are many magnesium consumers throughout the world, other than the US, who are willing to work with VSMPO-AVISMA. |
