Rostelecom Will Provide Communications Services to SCO Summit in Ekaterinburg

OAO Rostelecom (RTC) has started the preparations of the telecommunications infrastructure for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRIC summits which would take place in Ekaterinburg in June 2009. The company currently is working with the four sites - the Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg hotel where meetings of the heads of states will be held, the temporary residence of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the Atrium Palace Hotel where the international press centre will be housed, and the Koltsovo airport.

A 5.3 kilometre long fibre-optic communication line will be laid to the Hyatt Regency hotel. To the Atrium Palace Hotel RTC will string the 4.8-kilometre long channel to enable the high quality TV broadcast from the conference hall; the company will also provide the press centre with a thousand telephone numbers.

The OAO Rostelecom Urals branch informed RusBusinessNews that the telecommunication scheme between the sites is developed in such a manner that all lines are reserved. This will ensure uninterrupted communications at all times.
