VSMPO will help to wing the Russian airliner18.01.2012 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION. In 2012, the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC, will start supplying titanium forgings for the wings of six MS-21 medium-haul airliners. The VSMPO-AVISMA Press-Service has informed RusBusinessNews that AeroComposit, CJSC, working on the wing of the new airliner will use the forgings for wing parts. The year of 2013 is scheduled for assembly of components and parts. The wing of the new airliner will be made of composite materials. Due to vacuum-infusion technology the weight of the airliner will be reduced by 15% as compared to the aircraft of the older generations, thus resulting in a longer flying range. The first flight tests are scheduled for 2014. The MS-21 airliner is planned to replace Tu-154 and Тu-204 in Russia, and will compete with Boeing and Airbus airliners on the international market. |
