Uralvagonzavod has expanded its state contact to produce tanks by 25%

In 2012, the Uralvagonzavod research and production corporation will remodel over 210 T-72 tanks for the Russian Ministry of Defense. This is 25% more than was specified in the company's original contract with the state.

The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that an addendum agreement for another 43-45 tanks will soon be signed between Uralvagonzavod and the Russian Ministry of Defense. Consequently, the value of the contract will also increase from its original six billion rubles.

In addition to the parent company in Nizhny Tagil, the Design Bureau of Transport Machinery in Omsk, a subsidiary of Uralvagonzavod, will also help to fulfill the terms of the contract. The head of the corporation, Oleg Siyenko, claimed that the company is capable of remodeling up to 250 tanks a year. The first T-72s will head to the factories within a month.
