RMK introduced the Russian ombudsman its projects on Karabashmed upgrading30.03.2012 — News CHELYABINSK REGION. Vladimir Lukin, the RF Human Rights Ombudsman, visited Karabashmed, CJSC (a member of the Russian Copper Company (RMK)) with the purpose of environmental inspection. Having been shown around the ongoing production and the construction of the second sulfuric acid shop, he rated high the eight-year modernization work aimed at improvement of the environment situation in the Karabash municipal district. Karabashmed, CJSC, is an active participant in the social programs implemented by the municipal authorities - in 2011 the enterprise allocated about 15 million rubles to the municipal district, in excess of its obligations under the social partnership agreement. By the end of the previous year Karabashmed had paid more than 575 million rubles in taxes and other payments. In the current year, as estimated by RMK experts, the payable profit tax will amount to 162 million rubles, out of which 145 million rubles will be paid to the budget of the Karabash municipal district. Alexander Golov, General Director of Karabashmed, assured the Russian ombudsman that the enterprise intends to continue technical modernization as well as its policy of social responsibility and information transparency. Vladimir Lukin promised representatives of the community and residents of Karabash to supervise personally over the modernization progress.
