VSMPO to supply engine parts for Russian bombers

VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, OJSC will take part in a program to repair the engines of Tu-160 strategic bombers.

The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that Kuznetsov, OJSC, a Samara-based manufacturer of aircraft engines, approached VSMPO with a request to produce titanium forgings and mill products in order to update their airplane engines. Kuznetsov, OJSC is planning to obtain an order from the Russian Ministry of Defense after 2014 for their modernized engine for the Tu-160.

VSMPO-AVISMA produces forgings, disks, blades, rods, sheets, and pipes that are used to manufacture engines for various types and brands of aircraft, including the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the MS-21, the fifth-generation Т-50 fighter plane, and the Boeing 787 and A350.
