Karabashmed, CJSC has smelted 700 thousand tons of copper29.10.2012 — News CHELYABINSK REGION After almost 15 years in business, Karabashmed, CJSC (a subsidiary of Russian Copper Company) has smelted its 700 thousandth ton of blister copper. RCC's press office told RusBusinessNews that in 2006, Karabashmed began using the autogenous Ausmelt furnace from Australia to produce blister copper. Karabashmed is the only plant in Russia that possesses this technology to extract copper from raw materials. The introduction of the new unit made it possible to more than double the production of blister copper - to 90 thousand tons per year. Vent gas volume was reduced 6 times. RCC's program to upgrade Karabashmed's development includes roughly 8 billion rubles of investment between 2012 and 2016. The capacity of the copper-smelting furnace will be expanded to 120 thousand tons per year in the future. |
