The Sverdlovsk region has been awarded an international environmental grant29.11.2012 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION The Sverdlovsk region has won an international competition organized by the EURORUSS European-Russian center for innovation, ecology, and economic development. The 35 thousand euro grant was awarded to a regional project to create stations to automatically monitor air quality. The regional government told RusBusinessNews that ten such stations are now operating in the Sverdlovsk region. By the end of 2015 this number will rise to 15. This is the only air-monitoring network of this type in Russia. In 2011, total polluting emissions from all sources in the Sverdlovsk region decreased by 24.4%. Last year the region invested over 301 million rubles of public money in measures to protect the environment. |
