Steel production in the Sverdlovsk region has increased by 10%13.12.2012 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION Metallurgical and mining companies in the Sverdlovsk region shipped 388.9 billion rubles' worth of products to consumers between January and September of 2012, a 5.6% jump in shipments compared to the same period last year. The regional government told RusBusinessNews that steel production increased by 10%, finished mill products - by 5%, steel pipes - by 4.7%, and pig iron - by 2.6%. The mining of iron ore grew by 3.4%, and 2.4% more iron-ore concentrate was manufactured. Mining and metallurgical production accounts for over 54% of the total industrial output of the Sverdlovsk region. The region itself is responsible for more than 10% of all ferrous-metal mill products produced nationwide and more than 25% of all steel pipes. The Sverdlovsk region is a global leader in the production of alumina, aluminum, and titanium mill products. |
