Uralvagonzavod has begun the construction of a plant in Latvia07.06.2013 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION In the second half of 2014, the Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation, OJSC plans to open the UVZ Baltija plant to manufacture railroad cars in the Latvian town of Jelgava. Different types of rolling stock will be assembled there - platform cars, tank cars, grain hoppers, and boxcars up to 21 meters long. UVZ's press office told RusBusinessNews that 20 million euros are being invested in the construction. Initially, about 200 jobs will be created at the UVZ Baltija plant. In the future, the production capacity will reach 2 thousand railcars per year, and the company's sales will total 80 million lats. The company's finished products will be shipped to countries in the Baltics and the CIS, and later, to Western markets. |
