Yamal Craftsmen Will Study Business In Canada04.05.2009 — News YaNAO. Yamal folk craftsmen went to Canada to get new experience. They will visit the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta to learn about the souvenirs production technology and sales system. The Canada-Russia Northern Development Partnership Program (NORDEP) provides the support to people living in remote villages of Yamal in the production and sale of traditional national souvenirs. Items made of bone or beads as well as traditional Nenets sewing are an additional source of income for the indigenous people. Canadian experts who came to Salekhard in March 2009 said that the souvenir industry will have a positive effect on the development of tourism in Yamal. The regional government informed RusBusinessNews that after the visit to Canada business plans would be developed for the pilot territories, individual craftsmen, and for small souvenir making businesses. |
