The UVZ concept streetcar captivated world famous designers17.07.2014 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION The prototype of the R1 (RUSSIA ONE) streetcar showcased at the INNOPROM-2014 International Exhibition received flattering comments from world famous automotive trendsetters. The Press Service of the Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation has informed RusBusinessNews that the project was a brainchild of Uraltransmash (an Ekaterinburg-based subsidiary of the Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation) and the Atom Experimental Design Bureau. Chris Bangle, the former chief of design for the BMW Group, who previously had worked on designs of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce models, said that the R1 was "fascinating work". Murat Günak, the creator of the Mercedes SLK, who had worked with Peugeot, Mercedes, Daimler Chrysler and Volkswagen, said that the R1 was his favorite showpiece at INNOPROM. The streetcar boasts world-class design. The concept streetcar was highly praised by Karim Rashid, the world renowned designer, the winner of over 300 awards. He said: "It is the most beautiful streetcar I have ever seen. When it starts rolling on the streets, it will become a hallmark of Ekaterinburg." |
