SVERDLOVSK REGION
The Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation is going to show its heavy-wheeled infantry fighting vehicle at Russian Arms Expo 2015. Alexey Zharich, Deputy General Director, says that the new vehicle was designed in cooperation with France under the Atom Project.
RusBusinessNews has been informed by the Press Service of the Corporation that the Atom Project was implemented on a parity basis by Uralvagonzavod and the French company - Renault Defense Trucks (Volvo’s subsidiary). However, after the flare-up between Moscow and the West, the French company that was responsible for supplying engines withdrew from the project.
Uralvagonzavod places its bets on a new partner. It is highly probable that it will be the United Arab Emirates.
As it has been provisionally informed, the combat weight of Atom based on the French infantry fighting vehicle – VBCI – is about 32 tons; the vehicle can move at a speed reaching 100 kilometers per hour.
