The Empathy Foundation to Support More Than 560 Teachers

Mikhail Shelkov's Empathy Charitable Foundation expands the geography of the teacher support program. In 2021, the Foundation became a co-organizer of the "Vocation to Teach!" competition for Tula teachers for the first time. The main events took place from June to September, and on October 8 Olga Gremyakova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Tula Region, and Mikhail Shelkov's Foundation awarded the best of the best. Seven million rubles of the prize fund from the Empathy Foundation were divided among 33 winners in 11 nominations.

 

"We all went to school once, some people went there for 10 years, some—for 11. And throughout this time, our teachers worked with us so that we could become successful in what we do today. Therefore, we owe our achievements to our teachers, of course. Even if you can't come to school after graduation to thank them in person, you can find another way to express your gratitude. Grants, free training programs, new equipment, any other support—we can share all this with those who have contributed so much in us and are contributing in our children today without asking for anything in return. As soon as the attitude towards the teaching profession changes, we will become a completely different society," Mikhail Shelkov, founder of the Empathy Charitable Foundation, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, PJSC said.

 

Simultaneously, the Foundation is sponsoring the second round of payments to teachers in the Sverdlovsk Region. As the Empathy Charitable Foundation informed RusBusinessNews, teachers from Verkhnyaya Salda and Nizhnyaya Salda will continue to receive 15 thousand rubles each month.

 

A large-scale program to support teachers, in which 530 Salda teachers participate, was launched in 2020. Over the past academic year, Mikhail Shelkov allocated 63.2 million rubles for monthly payments to teachers and active teachers and excellent students were encouraged by special grants.

 

At the request of teachers, the Empathy, together with the Tula Higher Technical School, will continue free further education courses. For instance, in 2020, 199 people completed the "Digital Tools for Teachers" training. By the end of this year, more than 400 teachers will receive completion certificates in six programs.

 

The Foundation is addressing Salda schoolchildren as well: the Empathy and the Higher Technical School have launched the "Workshop. Salda 2.0" engineering accelerator for 54 school students. In November, three winning teams will receive grants to implement their ideas.
