The first children's championship of professional Tirus Skills was held at Verkhnyaya Salda

The inaugural Tirus Skills-2023 championship was held at the Perspective Professional and Industrial Cluster (PIC) of the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation. Hundreds of schoolchildren from Verkhnyaya Salda and Nizhnyaya Salda, studying in the cluster, took part in it. 

 

Throughout the week, they competed in 14 competencies, including ones in digital metrology, quality management, industrial mechanics and assembly, lathe machine operation, tool work, CAD engineering design, and digital data processing, at the Aviation and Metallurgical College in Verkhnyaya Salda. The professional skills of the contestants were evaluated by 25 experts from the college and VSMPO-AVISMA, the corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews

 

"Tirus Skills was initiated by the children themselves. When the CEO of the corporation and schoolchildren met two years ago, the pupils questioned why there weren't any professional tournaments for kids. We worked out every detail and organized the championship to a high level. The students who obtained their first specialty in the Perspective Professional and Industrial Cluster have demonstrated their competences, enhanced their professional expertise, and have an opportunity to be noticed by future employers from VSMPO-AVISMA," emphasized Olga Furtatova, head of VSMPO-AVISMA's HR department.

 

The championship's goal, according to Elena Polnikova, head of the VSMPO-AVISMA's educational institutions section, is to create an integral business ecosystem for training and development of workers and engineers to meet the demands of modern knowledge-intensive titanium production. 

 

"Today the system of professional education is quite popular among teenagers, and the competencies in which the championship has been held will be a conscious choice of the younger generation, the guarantee of a successful start in their careers," she said.

 

Diplomas, corporate mementos, and cash certificates from VSMPO-AVISMA have been awarded to the candidates who earned the top scores in theory and practice stages of the tournament.

 

The gold winners are Anna Pryanichnikova (digital data processing), Victoria Kotova (additive manufacturing), Pavel Yanovsky (engineering design and CAD), Zlata Bessonova (laboratory and chemical analysis), Veronika Safronova (visual and measurement control), Diana Kochkina (non-destructive testing), Anna Novozhilova (quality management), Egor Kholkin (destructive testing), Aleksandra Murzina (digital metrology), Oleg Georgievsky (industrial metrology), Igor Sharomov (electrical installation), Semyon Ezdokov (lathe machine operations), Aleksandr Savinov (industrial mechanics and assembly), and Aleksandr Volkov (tool work).

 

The organizers plan to hold Tirus Skills on a regular basis. The competition will reach the regional level in October 2023, with students from secondary vocational educational institutions from all over the Sverdlovsk region invited to compete. 

 

The Perspective Professional and Industrial Cluster Project aims to provide students with vocational training and jobs during their summer holidays. After successful completion of training in one of the seven areas, the schoolchildren will be employed by the VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation from June 1.
