VSMPO-Avisma is going to roll out rings with Ruspolimet

In 2012, VSMPO-Avisma will be able to increase the quantity of titanium rings it supplies to engine manufacturers. The corporation will work with the public corporation Rupolimet to strengthen its presence on the foreign market.

The corporation told RusBusinessNews that the ring rolling mill at the Verkhnyaya Salda Metallurgical Production Association lacks the manufacturing capacity to meet growing consumer demand. The plan is to place orders at the Kulebakskom (Ruspolimet) steel plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This leading supplier of semi-finished steel products for the aerospace industry manufactures products that meet international standards. The company holds certifications to this effect from TUV SERT and the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (ARMAK).

The Ruspolimet mill has already held a trial rolling of 1,470 and 2,000 mm rings from two pieces of titanium slab. If VSMPO's foreign customers are satisfied with the quality, the corporation will prepare a trial batch of rings in 2011 to get the production fully certified and in 2012 will begin large-scale commercial production.
