Fidel Castro Meets Jawaharlal Nehru in the Centre of Ekaterinburg10.04.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. The centre of Ekaterinburg will be enriched with a bronze monument representing well-known politicians who visited the city in the past. Among them there are the Russian emperors Alexander I and Nicholas II, the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, the Indian prime-minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, the Great Helmsman Mao Tze Dun, Mikhail Gorbachev, the President of the USSR, and the Russian Presidents Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin. It is possible that the Iranian Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the President of Indonesia Ahmed Sukarno will join them. The Olympus and Golgotha project was presented in November 2008, the Ekaterinburg Art Fund informed RusBusinessNews. Initially they planned to have the monument ready before the summit of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member-countries which will take place on 15-16 June in Ekaterinburg in 2009. But the project completion is likely to be delayed for 2-3 years. The authors need to obtain approvals of portrait images of the monument figures either from the politicians themselves or from their relatives, which requires a considerable amount of time.
