New Magnitogorsk Steel Brand Will Compete with American Products

OAO Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine has mastered the production of steel conforming to the American ASTM A1018 standard. The company informed RusBusinessNews that 19,000 tons of 4-12 mm thick hot-rolled sheet metal was shipped to Canada for further processing into roll-formed sections.

The new CS1018 steel is good for cold moulding as it keeps its high strength, and has the ability to absorb energy. No expensive alloying elements are used in the process which would allow Russian metallurgists to compete for international markets.

This new steel can be used in automotive industry, machine building, and bridge construction. Owing to this new steel OAO Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine is expecting to expand its presence in the North American market.
