RegionsThe Urals Federal District includes six subjects of the Russian Federation – the Sverdlovsk, the Tyumen, the Chelyabinsk, and the Kurgan oblasts, the Khanty-Mansiysk and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs. The total area of the District is 1,788,900 square kilometres, which is 10.5% of the total area of Russia. Population: 12.5 million. The District capital is the city of Ekaterinburg. The Privolzhski Federal District includes 14 subjects of the Russian Federation – the Perm Krai, the Kirov, the Nizhniy Novgorod, the Orenburg, the Penza, the Samara, the Saratov, and the Ulyanovsk Oblasts, and Republics of Bashkortostan, Mariy-El, Mordovia, Tatarstan, and Udmurtia. The total area of the District is 1,038,000 square kilometres. Population: 31.5 million (21.5% of the total population of Russia). The District capital is the city of Nizhniy Novgorod. |
