Russian Power Equipment Producers Will Challenge General Electric23.04.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. The leading Russian producers of power equipment are joining their efforts to compete with foreign companies. The power industry will be offered a broad range of gas turbine, steam turbine, and steam-power plants. OAO NPO Saturn (Yaroslavl), OAO NPO ELSIB (Novosibirsk), OAO EMAlians (Moscow), and ZAO Ural Turbine Works (Ekaterinburg) have formed the new industry cluster. Their first project is a 325 MW steam-gas plant for the Novogorkovskaya power plant (KES-Holding). Traditionally, Russian producers supply steam turbines for the domestic market, and Siemens and General Electric are the major gas turbine suppliers. The new partnership is planning to use gas turbine engines by NPO Saturn, EMAlians boiler equipment, UTW steam turbines, and NPO ELSIB turboalternators. The cumulative effect of the quality characteristics and product price should allow the Russian engineers to compete for foreign customers as well. |
