Consulate of Hungary Entrusted with Issuing Finnish Visas in the Urals05.05.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. On 15 May 2009 the Consulate General of Hungary in Ekaterinburg will start issuing visas for travelling to Finland. Consulate services will be available to the residents of the Urals, the Siberian, and the Volga Federal Districts. In September 2008 FinnAir airline launched regular flights on the route Helsinki - Ekaterinburg - Helsinki. However, Suomi still does not have a consulate in the Urals. The leading role in establishing relationships between businessmen of the two countries falls to the Ekaterinburg branch of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce, under the aegis of which Ekaterinburg hosted the Days of Finland in March 2009. Representatives of more than 60 companies headed by the Minister for Economic Development of Finland Mauri Pekkarinena conducted successful negotiations with the businessmen of the Urals region. The Sverdlovsk Oblast Government informed RusBusinessNews that in 2008 the trade turnover of the region with Finland amounted to 150 million Euros and that there are good conditions for the turnover to grow this year. In the first place the Finns are ready to offer their state of the art timber processing technologies and environmental and energy saving programs. The same event will take place in June in the Tyumen Oblast. In the summer this year the Consulate of Hungary plans to begin issuing visas for travel to Austria as well. Austrian Airlines run scheduled flights Ekaterinburg - Vienna three times a week. The consular district of the diplomatic mission of Hungary in Ekaterinburg includes: the Republics of Altai, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Tyva and Khakassia, the Altai Krai, the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Perm Krai, the Agin-Buryat, the Ust-Ordinsky, the Buryat, the Khanty-Mansi and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs as well as the Irkutsk, the Kemerovo, the Tomsk, the Chita, the Sverdlovsk, the Chelyabinsk, the Kurgan, the Novosibirsk, the Omsk and the Tyumen Oblasts. |
