The Tyumen oblast to get a chance of developing light industry20.05.2009 — News THE TYUMEN OBLAST. The Tyumen oblast is the only region in the Urals Federal Area that was identified as having a high-potential for light industry development. Regional business may receive support from the Federal Government to modernise production facilities and boost production of import substitution goods. On June 1, 2009 Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation will present "Light Industry Development Strategy Until 2020" to the Federal Government. It envisages government investments into the industry of up to 155 billion roubles. Amortisation premiums will be introduced among other support measures. According to Stanislav Naumov, a State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, given the crisis and the sharp exports decrease, the Russian economy has to identify new growth spots for demand and import substitution. Food industry and light industry have the highest potential, and their needs for equipment can boost the Russian machine-building and metallurgy. The Tyumen Light Industry Business Association currently includes 18 companies employing 2,800 people. The leaders of the sector are the Tyumen Sheepskin and Fur Factory and Krosno, the Tyumen textile corporation that accounts for 83% of Russian woollen cloth exports. |
