Investors Will be Given Direct Access to Perm Krai Forests22.05.2009 — News THE PERM KRAI. The Perm Krai wood-processing sector investors into will be able to gain access to timberland plots without competitions or auctions. This will allow attracting up to 28 billion roubles of investments into the region's economy. In June 2009 the Government of the Russian Federation will run an independent expert assessment of seven investment projects presented by the Perm Krai companies. Over the next three years they plan to upgrade the wood-processing companies' equipment, as well as establish new plants for the production of plywood, curved plywood, furniture panels, and sawn timber. Among the companies seeking investments are Solikamskbumprom (Solikamsk paper mill), Permskiy Domostroitelniy Kombinat (Perm house-building combine) and Permskiy Fanerniy Kombinat (Perm Plywood Combine). The Krai government officials told RusBusinessNews that if the projects are approved by the experts, they will be recorded in the register of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RF. This will allow investors to gain access to the forest riches without needless formalities and red tape. In 2008, the wood-processing sector accounted for 6% of the Perm Krai's gross regional product (29 billion roubles). |
