UMMC opened the Yuzhny shaft in Bashkiria23.07.2015 — News SVERDLOVSK REGION On the Day of Metallurgists, the Yuzhny shaft of the Buribaevsky GOK (the UMMC mineral resources facility) brought the first ore to the surface, having opened the way to new reserves f the Oktyabrskoye deposit. The deposit has been developed since 1969, as RusBusinessNews has been informed by the UMMC Press Service. At present, ore is being mined from the Ekspluatatsionny and Ventilyatsionny shafts at the depth of 250-360 meters. The monthly output is 220-230 thousand tons, but the ore reserves are dwindling. The richer deposits – more than 4 million tons – are at the depth of more than 400 meters. The construction of the Yuzhny shaft started in 2008, but because of the crisis the works were discontinued till April 2010. In December 2013, the shaft 6 meters in diameter, having concrete support and five underground facilities was ready; its depth was 492 meters. In 2014, the shaft was reinforced and provided with utilities. Today, the works are focused on above-ground mine installations. The 35-meter headframe is ready; it has two sheaves of more than 5 tons each; besides, the building for the hoisting machine having a load-lifting capacity of 35 tons has been completed. The cage will move at 5.3 meters per second, thus covering 480 meters in 90 seconds. The electrical substation and fire pump station have been put into operation; the gas and electric power supply as well as sewage and water supply systems have been provided. The costs of the project implementation exceeded 1 billion rubles. In the near future, the mine builders will have to provide horizontal galleries and install equipment at five levels. The commercial production at Yuzhny will start in the middle of 2016.
