The Perm Krai Learns from Italian Waste Crisis03.06.2009 — News THE PERM KRAI. Two German companies, Remondis Internationals GmbX and ASA Group, are ready to start their operations in the Perm Krai. In July 2009 they will check feasibility for launching waste transportation, sorting, and processing companies in the region. As the Krai government informed RusBusinessNews, Remondis proposed to supply waste haulers to the region, whilst ASA Group is studying the issue of setting up a polygon of its own. TDF Ecotech, a Russian-German JV, has declared its intention to process the accumulated waste by means of biocomposting, thus extracting biogas. 705 thousand tons of domestic waste are brought to the Perm Krai waste landfills annually, whilst 445 thousand tons accumulate in illegal dumps. The region is nowhere near the Palermo waste crisis; however, the government and private investors are intending to spend about 3 billion rubles for waste utilization within the next 5 years. An international research and practice conference on household waste will take place in Perm in November. |
