Ekaterinburg Will Host the Meeting of BRIC Countries' Leaders on 16 June11.06.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. During the summit of BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) in Ekaterinburg on 16 June 2009 the participants plan to sign an agreement on establishing an official union of the four states. Apart from Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China, who will also be present at the SCO summit on 15-16 June, the BRIC meeting will be attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The visit of so many high-ranking guests has called for stepping up security in Yekaterinburg. In addition to 7-thousand-strong local police force, more than 4 thousand policemen have arrived from the 25 Russian regions from Volgograd across to Novosibirsk. They have been lodged in barracks and in a tent camp. The guests and participants of the two summits, as well as several hundred journalists, will be placed at the hotels and halls of residence. The representatives of the Ekaterinburg Administration told RusBusinessNews that around 7 thousand hotel rooms are prepared for the guests. Almost 100% of the hotel rooms have been booked for the summits. |
