Karabashmed invests 750 million rubles in its processing plant upgrading

Karabashmed JSC (a part of the Russian Copper Company Group) is allocating more than 750 million rubles to upgrade its plant processing smelter slag for the further production of copper concentrate and mortar sand. The project aimed at increasing the output capacity is scheduled for completion by the end of 2022. 

 

As RusBusinessNews has been informed by RCC’s Press Service, Karabashmed will increase the number of flotation cells and extend the size range of the crushing and filtration equipment fleet. As a result, the design output of the processing plant will reach 800 thousand tons of slag a year, thus making it possible to increase usage of slag as a secondary raw material and reduce disposable industrial waste.

 

Upgrading of the processing plant is one of the parts of the project aimed to increase the output of the Karabashmed smelting facility to 230 thousand tons of blister copper a year. The project also includes installation of the fourth converter and construction of a new facility for producing copper anodes to reach the output of 265 thousand tons of anodes a year. The project budget is estimated at 7.6 billion rubles.
