Dmitry Medvedev: “Russia Is Prepared To Discuss Problems of Afghanistan and Pakistan”16.06.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. "The Afghanistan issue was in the centre of discussion at the SCO meetings, and it's obvious now that this problem should not be considered independently", said Russian President. "We have always been saying that we are prepared to support the settlement in the region at the political level as well as in the format of a coalition, including the support for transit". As Dmitry Medvedev was summing up the results of the meeting of the leaders of Russia, Pakistan and Afghanistan, he noted the need for initiating trilateral economic projects. It is impossible to solve the drug crime problem without the implementation of infrastructure projects in energy and transport sectors in Afghanistan, because the country's economy needs a recovery. As Dmitry Medvedev said, new trilateral meetings will be continued in the future. |
