SVERDLOVSK REGION
Ekaterinburg Mayor Aleksey Orlov led the first tour to the city hall building for children. The tour was organized for the winners of the Victory Day Painting Contest, RusBusinessNews reports.
Sergey Kamensky, Head of the History Museum, assisted the Mayor in this activity on May 7.
Aleksey Orlov met the guests in front of the Mayor's administration building and told them some noteworthy facts about the City Hall. On the third floor, in front of the busts of Vasily Tatishchev and Wilhelm de Gennin, the founders of Ekaterinburg, he shared the legend that before starting the day's work, one should rub the nose of either of them —for the day to be either successful or calm.
In the mayor's office, the bravest kids took a seat in the city governor's chair.
At the close of the tour, participants visited the top of the clock tower, which was followed by a tea and present ceremony.
"All the children are very creative. Chances are some of them will become architects and give our city some new, fancy buildings. With all my heart, I believe it," Aleksey Orlov summarized.
The mayor noted that the tradition of city hall tours will go on: the administration will invite the winners of skills contests, sports competitions, and city contests.
