Sverdlovsk Oblast Industry is Searching for the "Bottom"19.06.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. In May 2009 the industry output in the Sverdlovsk Oblast decreased by 32.3% y.o.y. The regional indicators are twice the average Russian figures, i.e. 32.3% against 17.1%. The experts noticed that in several sectors the slowdown decelerated in May, and suggested to use the monthly production dynamics for a proper assessment of the situation. They are sure that there is no way to have a clear view of the situation by comparing the current figures with the successful indicators that existed before the crisis. According to the Rosstat figures, the production of aluminum and rolled iron has increased by 1.4% as compared with April 2009. As the Urals Bank Union told RusBusinessNews, the further development of the Urals' key industries depends on how the external markets would come out of the crisis; the Sverdlovsk Oblast produces much more metal, machines and equipment than it consumes. The change in the defense sector will happen after the plants receive funds under the Government Defense Order. |
