A new forging complex with a force of 4,000 tons was commissioned at VSMPO-AVISMA's forging and stamping shop in Verkhnyaya Salda. The complex was commissioned as part of the Plant Day celebration by Dmitry Trifonov, General Director of the Corporation.

"The new state-of-the-art forging facility is an all-rounder in the steel industry, with maximum productivity and minimum human involvement. Once it passes all test operations, it will increase VSMPO-AVISMA's productivity in forging quality titanium products – bars and slabs. The application areas of the latter are industrial, marine, aerospace, automotive, and medical industries," said the head of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation.

The corporation's press office told RusBusinessNews that the work on the project costing over 2.5 billion rubles and the equipment procurement began in 2019. The complex today has the highest forging productivity and precision, while being able to fully automate the production process according to previously developed scenarios. As a result, press forging reduces labor intensity, produces larger billet diameters, saves on energy costs, and generally improves operational efficiency.

The new forging facility will increase the company's titanium processing capacity. The unit has successfully passed hot tests as part of the commissioning works: the interaction of the press with hot metal was tested, all forging parameters and technological accuracy were checked, technological operations and press maintenance were worked out, and the infrastructure was tested.
