A New "Smerch" to Open Russian Expo Arms-2009

The Perm company Motovilikha Plants is planning to present a new "Smerch" to foreign customers. A lightweight multiple-launch rocket system will be shown for the first time at the Russian Expo Arms in Nizhny Tagil on 8-11 July 2009.

As the company informed RusBusinessNews, the new combat vehicle weighs 25 tons - 15 tons lighter than the "classical" version. Thanks to that, "Smerch" is capable of running over roads and bridges with weight limit of 30 tons, as well as overcome steep elevations and mountain serpentines. The engagement distance for 300-millimeter rocket missiles remains the same - 90 kilometers.

South-East Asia countries are considered as priority market for the new "Smerch".
