In the center of Verkhnyaya Salda, a banner made up of thousands of photographs of soldiers from the front and of home-front workers will be installed on the facade of one of the buildings. The large-scale Legends of Victory project, dedicated to celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, is being carried out by VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, PJSC.

During World War II, thousands of local residents went off to fight, while those who remained behind showed heroic labor and self-sacrifice in their workplaces. In Verkhnyaya Salda—at the time, plants No. 95 and 519 (now VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, PJSC)—metallurgists did everything they could to ensure Soviet aviation gained air supremacy, surpassing the enemy in both the quality and quantity of aircraft, the company’s press service told RusBusinessNews.

The Legends of Victory project aims to perpetuate the memory of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and create another public space in the city to honor their feats. Its grand opening is scheduled for early May.
