Russia and France Celebrating Paris’s Birthday08.07.2009 — News THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST. People of the village called Paris sent a telegram to Bertrand Delanoe, the Mayor of the French city of the same name, on 8 July 2009. They sent their greetings to the city's head and to all Parisians on the day of founding of the French capital which celebrated its 1,058 anniversary. The local administration informed RusBusinessNews that this year the South Urals Paris celebrates the village day at the same time as the birthday of the "older brother". The Russian tricolour is flying over the 50 metre high stylised copy of the Eifel tower to mark the celebration. The Eifel tower's copy in the South Urals Paris is a telecommunications mast. Utel, a mobile telecoms provider has commissioned it in June 2005. The tower is a s high as an 18 storey building and weighs 160 less than the Eifel tower. |
