Bulgaria Seeking Partners in the Urals10.07.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. Bulgaria is concerned about the disbalance in economic cooperation with the Sverdlovsk Oblast. Plamen Petkov the head of the Ekaterinburg Bulgarian Consulate since May 2009 is going to bring businessmen from his country to the Urals. Mr Petkov told RusBusinessNews that several companies from the Sverdlovsk Oblast are currently implementing projects in Bulgaria worth 500 million dollars each. However, according to the 2008 figures the Republic takes the 54th place in the foreign trade partners list of the region with the turnover of 10.5 million US dollars. The Bulgaria Consulate has been opened in Ekaterinburg in 2003. The need to broaden the economic connections between the regions of the Urals Federal District and Bulgaria was stated during the visit of Milen Keremedchiev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, to the Urals in March 2009. According to Plamen Petkov the Bulgarians are ready to establish joint ventures with Urals partners, for instance in the sphere of agricultural products processing and load-lifting machinery manufacturing. |
