International Metalworkers' Federation Predicted Success for Magnitogorsk Mill-500013.07.2009 — News THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST. The delegation from International Metalworkers' Federation ended its visit of Russian enterprises. The trade union leaders visited Krasny Proletary, a Moscow plant, the production facility of Volkswagen in the Kaluga Oblast, and OAO Magnitogorsk Metallurgic Combine. The Magnitogorsk Combine informed RusBusinessNews that ready to be started up mill-5000 caused most interest among the guests. According to Berthold Huber, the head of the German industrial trade union IG-Metall Union, once the mill is started it will be clear to all concerned that the production capacities of one of the leading Russian enterprises are at the world's highest level. The start up is planned for 17 July 2009. The mill will be able to roll thick sheets up to 4850 mm wide, which previously was not made in Russia, for ship building, oil and gas, and construction industries. The project mill capacity is 1.5 million tons per year. The International Metalworkers' Federation represent the collective interests of 25 million workers of metal processing companies in more than a hundred countries. It includes the Mining and Metallurgy Trade Union of Russia, primary cells of which operate at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgic Combine. |
