Ekaterinburg Becomes Russian Trade Leader15.07.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. The commodities market of Ekaterinburg remains one of the most dynamically developing markets in Russia. Retail turnover in the capital of the Sverdlovsk Oblast grew by 2.1% in January-June 2009 in comparison to the same period of the previous year. In the first half of the year people living in or visiting Ekaterinburg spent 182 billion roubles on shopping. On average each person living in Ekaterinburg spent 77,500 roubles on shopping. This is the highest figure for Russia. In Moscow this figure amounted to 69,700 roubles, in St. Petersburg - 68,000. The city administration informed RusBusinessNews that there are 2,875 players in Ekaterinburg's retail market. In 2009 the total area of shopping centres in Ekaterinburg is expected to grow by 200 thousand square metres. |
