Snezhinsk May Become Brain Centre of Russian Supercomputer06.08.2009 — News THE CHELYABINSK OBLAST. The centre for the development of software for the Russian supercomputer may be housed in the closed city of Snezhinsk. The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in the end of July 2009 that the most powerful computers in the country should be working in the federal nuclear centres. In the situation of the global ban for nuclear testing the reliability of the nuclear shield may only be checked with the use of computer modelling. At the moment the development of software for the supercomputer is an important issue. The administration of Snezhinsk told RusBusinessNews that the software development centre may be established on the basis of the city's key enterprise Russian Federal Nuclear Center - Zababakhin All-Russia Research Institute of Technical Physics. The Nuclear Centre has been modelling the use of nuclear arms on computers for almost 20 years. The Centre has all the necessary technology and personnel potential. The city of Snezhinsk is located between the two Urals megapolises, Chelyabinsk and Ekaterinburg. |
