The 2008 revenue of the Urals largest communication operator OAO Uralsvyazinform was up 3.6% and amounted to 40.6 billion roubles. The increase was mainly due to the growth of the revenue received from data transmission and the Internet access provision (+48.6%) and mobile communication services (+5%), the company informed RusBusinessNews. However, the company's net profit dropped by 27.3% to 2.7 billion roubles. The number of Uralsvyazinform subscribers reached 9.4 million, including 5.7 million users of mobile communication. The volume of investments in 2008 amounted to 9.98 billion roubles which is 40.4% higher than the figure for the previous year.
