Det Norske Veritas Certified OJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant

The independent classification and certification society Det Norske Veritas has completed the audit at OJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (a Mechel group member). Electric furnace steelmaking workshop №2 making steel ingots has been certified.

The company informed RusBusinessNews that the Norwegian experts examined the work of the quality and certification centre, the technical supervision management, and the central analytic laboratory. As a result, Det Norske Veritas has issued a Certificate of Conformity to confirm that the production at OJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant complies with the classification society's standards.

The Det Norske Veritas certificate will be valid for the next four years. Having this certificate gives the company further competitive advantage and promotes the stability of sales of their products in domestic and foreign markets.

OJSC Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant is one of the few Russian companies entitled to assign its own code - ChS (for Chelyabinsk Steel) - to its products. There are more than 130 such grades of steel manufactured today.
