The British Council: Back in Ekaterinburg03.04.2009 — News THE SVERDLOVSK OBLAST. Anne Pringle, the British Ambassador to Russia expressed the hope for the resumption of work of the British Council in the Russian regions. During her visit to Ekaterinburg on 2 April 2009 she said, "We hope that the British and Russian Governments will in due course sign an agreement on cultural centres and then the British Council will be able to reconsider its regional activities". The work of the British Council's branches in Ekaterinburg and St Petersburg was suspended by the directive of the RF Foreign Affairs Ministry in the beginning of 2008. |
