Siemens VAI Secured New Contract With Evraz Group S.A.

Siemens VAI will continue participating in the modernization of metal manufacturing capacities of Evraz Group S.A. According to the conditions of the new contract worth about 30 million euro the Austrian company is modernizing the continuous casting machine №3 at the Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works. 

Evraz is going to start the preparation for the modernization in December 2009. Siemens VAI will have all the necessary assemblies, units, and machines ready by November 2010. The installation will take two and a half months. The equipment installation will be carried out without stopping the steel production.

Evraz's press service informed RusBusinessNews that the modernization of the machine will increase its capacity from 700 thousand to 1 million tons of metal per year and expand the range of products.

At the same time Siemens VAI will modernize the converter №4 within the contract for the modernization of oxygen converter shop at the Nizhniy Tagil Iron and Steel Works. The Austrian company has modernized three converters under this contract before.
