Yuri Neyolov, Yamal Governor, Ready To Resign17.02.2010 — News YAMAL. Yuri Neyolov, the Governor of Yamal has made an unexpected announcement on 17 February 2010. He suggested the Russian President not to consider his candidacy for the next - fourth - term. Mr Neyolov's term as a Governor finishes on 11 March. United Russia has included him into the list of four candidates for the Governor's position of the Autonomous Okrug that was submitted to Dmitri Medvedev. According to the RusBusinessNews experts Mr Neyolov's had a fifty-fifty chance. However, ever since the Russian President decided to replace the long standing Governor of Ugra Aleksandr Filipenko by Natalia Komarova, a Chairperson of the RF State Duma Committee, the political future of the current Yamal Governor has somewhat less straight forward. Yuri Neyolov, 57 year old, has been governing Yamal, the key gas producing area of Russia, for 16 years. He says he received an offer of a good position in Moscow. Before him, Aleksandr Filipenko, instead of the Governor's position, was made an Auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the RF. Dimitri Kobylkin, the Head of the Purovski district of Yamal, may become a likely successor of Mr Neyolov.
