Mechel Strengthening Positions In Asia

OAO Mechel has opened a representative office in Peking. This is a third Asian office of the company, there have already been representations opened in Japan and South Korea.

At the moment Mechel supplies iron-ore concentrate, coking coal concentrate and ferroalloys to China. The press centre of the company informed RusBusinessNews that sales are growing in all spheres.

 
Furthermore, Mechel has signed a memorandum of intentions with Minmetals, one of the largest Chinese state owned industrial corporations. Within this framework, the first contract on the construction of the rail and structural steel mill at the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant has been signed.

OAO Mechel includes enterprises located in 12 Russian regions, Kazakhstan, Romania, Lithuania, and Bulgaria. The company unites the producers of coal, iron ore concentrate, nickel, steel, rolled metal, ferroalloys, high processing level products, heat and electric energy. The core metallurgical asset of the company - the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant - is located in the Urals.
