The Perm Krai
The Perm Krai is the westernmost region of the Urals. The administrative centre of the region - the city of Perm - is 2 hours flight away from Moscow. The total area of the Krai is 160 thousand kilometres, population - 2.72 million people. The Perm Krai is a part of the Privolzhsky (near Volga) Federal District. The cornerstone of the Krai's economy is a well developed industrial complex. The following are the key industries of the region: oil production, chemicals and petrochemicals, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, machine building, and timber industry.
